The College of Health Technology, Obubra, Cross River State is a leading institution dedicated to training skilled professionals in the healthcare sector, who will contribute to the improvement of public health in Nigeria and beyond. Our History
The College of Health Technology, Obubra was initially established as the College of Health Technology and Dental Therapy in late 2021 at its temporary site in Imabana Itamtet, Obubra Junction, Obubra LGA, Cross River State.
During its inaugural academic session, the college admitted 35 students into the Community Health Department and 9 students into the Dental Therapy Department, bringing the total enrollment for the first batch to 44 students. To support this initial intake, five lecturers were engaged, and by 2022, an additional two tutors were employed to enhance training as the institution sought accreditation from the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).
In early 2024, the institution underwent a name change, officially becoming the College of Health Technology, Obubra. That same year, the college relocated to its permanent site in Owakande II Community, Obubra, and was granted provisional accreditation.
With its expansion, student enrollment grew to 142, and the Medical Laboratory Department was established. The institution now boasts 18 lecturers, including 8 tutors and 5 professionals, alongside 4 administrative staff and 2 security personnel.
The College of Health Technology, Obubra, takes pride in offering a conducive learning environment with well-equipped facilities, ensuring a practical-based training experience that aligns with professional guidelines and industry standards.
