PUBLIC HEALTH

Description

Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. This work is achieved by promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases. Overall, public health is concerned with protecting the health of entire populations. These populations can be as small as a local neighborhood, or as big as an entire country or region of the world.

Training Objectives

The program is designed to:

  • Train and produce graduates with broad scientific and professional knowledge.
  • Ensure students understand public healthcare practices nationally and globally.

Admission Requirement

  • At least five (5) credit passes at not more than two sittings at the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB) examinations in the following subjects:
    • English Language
    • Mathematics
    • Biology or Health science
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
  • In addition to the first bullet point, All programmes which include; BSc, HND, NCE, ND OND and technical certificate holders would be admitted into 200 level
  • That the BSc. holders would possess a minimum of third class, HND holders will possess a minimum of lower credit, NCE possesses a minimum of merit pass and ND & OND will possess a minimum of lower credit in order to be eligible for admission.
  • Duration: This is a four (4) year intensive semester-based program.
